Sample Business Contracts

One of the questions we are asked all the time is “Where is the best place to find contracts for my new business?” It really depends on the type of contract and how complex it needs to be.

If you are looking for a relatively straightforward or simple contract, you can use a service like RocketLawyer. They have hundreds of popular contracts (e.g., lease, bill of sale, cease and desist letter, letter of intent, promissory note, etc). RocketLawyer is not a law firm, but their contract templates are created and vetted by lawyers. RocketLawyer is a subscription service that costs $39/month or $249 for an annual subscription. When you sign up for a RocketLawyer subscription, you get 7 days of FREE access and you can cancel anytime. Rocketlawyer contracts are ready-to-use (not fill-in-the-blank forms) and can be edited if you so desire.

If you need a more complex contract, you can hire a business attorney in your state. When hiring an attorney, make sure they have drafted the kind of contract you are looking for many times before. Attorneys use templates as well and if they have prepared the same kind of contract a dozen or more times it will be likely be a much better document than the first few iterations. According to ContractsCounsel.com, the average cost of hiring a lawyer to draft a complex contract is between $1,000 and $5,000.
